Hey Gentlemens Club!
I was wondering what kind of gear setup your solo add tank uses? Like stats etc or even strat. We've tried solo add tanking with a Pally in BV gear, but he got ganked. Obviously chain HW works no longer, is there any specific gear and or tactics you guys use to handle this effectively?
Good luck on 50 Attempts ToGC!

Our raid leader is still on vacation until tomorrow, so you'll have to wait for a response

You use Block rating gear, not block value. You want your tank to be unhittable, IE 102.4% avoidance. Thats block + parry + dodge + miss, the reason tanks focus on block rating is because it has no DR.
You have your tank run this macro:
/run ChatFrame1:AddMessage(format("Unhittable at 102.4%% - you have %.2f%%", GetDodgeChance() + GetBlockChance() + GetParryChance() + 5 + 1/(0.0625 + 0.956/(GetCombatRating(CR_DEFENSE_SKILL)/4.91850*0.04))))
It will tell him in his chat box how much total avoidance he has.

IE 101.6% avoidance.

Your main focus is to be at 101.6% avoidance as Spanko alluded to but got wrong; thanks Nautix! The liberal use of +defense gems is highly suggested to attain this avoidance number. The second thing you need to stack is block value. The higher you get your block value then the less you get hit for.
Find every piece of gear in the game that has both block rating and block value on it and put it on. Next, grab every enchant you can find that adds defense to your gear and gem for avoidance accordingly. After you do that take a look and see what your avoidance is at. If done correctly then you should be well above the 101.6% avoidance threshold. If so then pat yourself on the back and start looking for ways to increase your block value. Try switching around enchants, consumables, and gems to find something that works for you. This can get kind of expensive so I suggest using Rawr to do hypothetical gear setups with full raid buffs onto your character so that you can see what your true avoidance is.
Some of the best pieces of gear you can wear come from Naxx and Ulduar. High HP isn't necessarily a good thing to shoot for as an add tank. Get as much block value as possible while still keeping that 101.6% avoidance fully raid buffed and you'll be set.

Thanks for the replys!
Annoying when your add tank doesnt want to do research for himself, good luck with ICC and Cata!
