Testing the player with a video designed to be played fullscreen at 1080p. If you have a 1920x1200 monitor and you press the fullscreen button at the bottom right of the video next to the volume control, it will letterbox the video. 1920x1080 monitors should just see the video. Lower resolutions should work as well, but might not look as nice.
