I was looking at the gear from sunwell and was trying to figure out the optimal gear/gem setup with the new gear and still try and maintain the 4 set t6 bonus. Ill edit this when i get more time but at first glance the sunwell pants/shoulders/helm are all better than T6. The T6 i would keep/use at first glance is: Bracer Chest Boots Belt This leaves room for the 3 sunwell items and the crafted gloves. you have to give up some crit to retain the 4 set bonus, but you gain a ton of mp5 and +heal, and a bit of spell haste.
ye, and depends on gem choice. by the looks of the sockets it seems rather than crit like t6 they are pushing more healing and mp5
I think that might be a better way to go about it, because crits are too unreliable sometimes, and it would be good to have steady, big heals
That's a reaction by much of the paladin community. We get more benefit from mp5 than crit in the long run.
Exactly. Nobody should look at crit rating as a means of more bigger heals, but as a means of being mana efficient with Illumination. The other healing classes, who don't have Illumination, don't care about crit rating for the most part. The reason for that is that by going for mp5 and +healing, you can heal for more and for longer. However, as a paladin, you still need crit rating. No analysis I've ever seen has come to the conclusion that mp5 is better or worse than crit in every situation. It's a balance and you should balance your stats accordingly. Historically, there has only really been crit rating on paladin gear and not much mp5. Most paladins wanted more mp5 and Blizzard responded with this change in the itemization for holy paladins.
A good question. I'm still going to favor spell crit but we have no choice but to get alot of haste now unless we don't upgrade some slots. I'm sure after all the known loot is out for sunwell and 2.4, EJ's forums will be updated somewhere.
The itemization to date for spell haste has been shitty since you can get it, but at the expense of mp5 and crit. Blessed Band of Karabor was really the only item that had one of these other very important stats. For paladin healing, I'd rather have mp5 and crit than spell haste.
No. Spell haste actually makes spell dmg worth more. I was reading on the EJ forums that in 2.3 the spell haste cap was 33% (and BL gives you 30). However, this number raises dramatically next patch with the ability to lower the gcd.
The only time GCD annoys me while raiding is with aura switching, cleanse spamming and that odd occasion where I used Holy Shock. It's not going to be a very useful stat for holy paladins outside of arenas come 2.4. P.S. - I'm working on a gear analysis spreadsheet for the new 2.4 that looks to see what the best gear combo is while maintaining a 4 piece T6 bonus.
I did all the analysis and it was pretty obvious that T6 chest, bracers, belt and boots is definitely the way to go. They didn't make the new non-set chest very good.
Yeah some of the upgrades are pretty lame for healers. The best upgrade from t6 to sunwell gear for druids is suprisingly the gloves that drop from trash.
Best paladin gloves are those crafted ones. Nice that they're crafted because they're insanely cheap to make, but not nice because the pattern drops from trash.
Yeah but arn't those Gloves BoE? I'm surprised they are that good then. The LW BP and the dropped are very similar. The only difference is LW has 3 reds and 33 spirit while the drop is 1 red, 2 blue and +33 haste. Then the LW boe gloves are trash, basically just like those teron gloves.
