Also, I feel like one of the only classes that has a tough time soloing in Inferno. I mean, I might have better luck using bears, but shit what a stupid spec. It revolves around blowing 4 long CDs to get 300% mana regen so you can literally just spam bears. I'd rather play a class that gets to use more than one button if that's my only viable spec. It's also kind of hard to find a group for Inferno if you aren't a Wizard or DH, and when I get in a group I feel like I am not adding as much as another class would. I picked the class because it was supposed to be the "pet" class, but past like Act 2 Nightmare your pets just become a waste of space. 1 minute CD on Zombie Dogs but they are all dead in 10 seconds. Gargantuan dead in 2 hits. I feel like I can't use half of my abilities because they are poorly thought out abilities that are only viable in Normal. /vent off
You dont have to use long cooldowns. I use spirit walk, soul harvest, big bad voodoo, and mass confusion/gargantuan/grasp. Keeping them on cooldown isnt hard and probably yields the highest DPS in the game.
Bats, I havent tried the bears yet but I would be concerned they have too short of a range to work on anything but bosses.
Yeah, it's a short range, but it's pretty stupid damage. You could rune 3 second Spirit Walk + Spirit Veil cheat death and whatever you were bearing is probably dead.
Wizard teleport with images rune is so op. I don't think I've seen an image die early either. Can't tell if their invuln or not. Almost no point to them having a seperate images ability.
You skip those packs, duh. I have only ever had success with invulnerable minions in a group where 1 or 2 people kite away the minions while the others kill the elite. Shielding I typically fight near a door that I can go up and down with.
What I don't like is inferno is forcing people to play with very specific abilities to be able to compete. For instance, wizards in inferno will only survive with Energy Armor with Force Armor Rune so they aren't one-shotted. They claim they want to play with "fun" builds but it isn't fun dying 100 times on inferno playing with the "fun" build.
On spamming bears: It's far and away the highest damage you can do, nothing else is even remotely close or comparable, and the range on it is almost double of bats if you do it right. Basically, bears spawn in 3 distinct streams and can't spawn in walls, spawning in a rectangle around you, so you can force the rectangle to take other shapes by standing near geometry. Standing with your back flat to a wall will project the rectangle about 10 yards forward from where it should, and shooting it at an angle will make the rectange stagger so that 2 streams can effectively stack on each other. TL;DR: Stand against a wall and fire at angle and Bears do double damage and have much longer range. Enemies with large models will get hit with all 3 streams 100% of the time if you do this. We killed Butcher on Inferno in ~35s in a 3-man group, and that was with a 5000 damage Monk tank (Vyrt) and Myrx as some worthless non-bearspam spec. He was at ~30% by the time the 20s of Big Bad Voodoo ended.
Joeschmo you should add me on D3. Also - Is that damage with the crit passive talent? Overinflated and all that?
