The legendaries I just go threw normal questing, off random crap. Don't even think it was champion packs. The patterns dropped from champion packs in start of ACT 2 leading up to Magdha. They appeared to be dropping like candy for me. I think I was wearing like 100% MF though coupled with 5 stack NV at one point.
Skoove has some sort of Crossbow with 5 rare properties recipe. He made 2, stats were good but low dps. Higher one was in the 800s range I think.

Just a point of interest for crafting: don't waste your materials on weapons, they are all ilevel 62 which is worse than A3/4 weapon drops. Save your mats until they improve them, or just craft 6-stat armors if you find plans for them. Armor, as far as I know, can get the same affixes as their 63 counterparts except they cap at +70 all res instead of +80.
DO the 6 stat rare recipes only drop in Act 3/4. I've seen three recipes so far and they were only 4/5 properties.

The problem is that it's not the highest ilvl shield (Sacred Shield) which is what I would imagine most people would go for. You miss out on around 200 armor and 1000 block value which I am not qualified to comment on the impact of it. That said, with 6 stats you could possibly still roll some nice shields. However, I would say it is not worth the cost in mats + combine gold. Just my 2cp.
